Meet our new project officer

West Darling Arts is thrilled to announce the appointment of Hester Lyon as the newest addition to our team. With extensive background in the arts communities of Broken Hill and Naarm (Melbourne), Hester brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the role of Project Officer.

Since moving to Wilyakali Country in 2021, Hester has co-founded grassroots initiatives Slag Heap Projects and Chloride Street Studios, demonstrating her commitment to empowering communities and artists in our region.

Prior to joining West Darling Arts, Hester was an Exhibition Coordinator at NETS Victoria and previously served as the Curator and Programs Officer at Broken Hill City Art Gallery. She has also contributed extensively to various artist-run, public and private arts organisations in Naarm (Melbourne).

Hester’s diverse background and extensive experience as a curator, arts worker, writer, and arts educator, has equipped her with a deep understanding of the cultural landscape of Far West NSW, making her a valuable asset to West Darling Arts and the communities we serve.

Her dedication to collaboration and creativity echoes the values of West Darling Arts, and we are excited to see the impact it will have on future projects and initiatives.

Please join us in welcoming Hester to West Darling Arts. We are confident that her passion for the arts and her commitment to community engagement will greatly contribute to the future of the organisation.
