2024 was a big year for arts in Far West New south Wales — full of change, consultation, creativity, and community.

Creative Programming:

Living Heritage Festival showcased five new commissions by Broken Hill-based artists.

This Is Who I Am brought together local queer storytellers in a series of workshops and a powerful one-off evening.

The Art of Broken Hill exhibition toured to NSW Parliament, showcasing 40 works by 19 artists.
Community Consultation & Planning:

We engaged locals in a consultation on a future arts and culture hub for Broken Hill.

Scoped new opportunities in Wentworth Shire, including traditional arts and skills revival.

Developed a bold new Strategic Plan for 2026–2029, shaped by regional voices.
Growing Our Infrastructure:

The Arts & Media Hub continues to thrive, with new filmmaking gear used by local creatives and visiting filmmakers.
New Faces & Forward Momentum:

Welcomed Aimee Volkofsky and Hester Lyon to the WDA team

Welcomed Karen Underwood to the Board as Treasurer

Secured IVAIS funding to employ an Aboriginal Arts Officer in 2025
