Spotlight on Laneway Festival Artists - David Doyle
GLAMfest - Gawler Laneway Arts & Music Festival has a number of fantastic artists and musicians participating in the festival which will be held on Easter Saturday from 5pm. Today we are introducing David Doyle
David Doyle is an emerging Barkindji/Malyangapa artist from the Menindee/ Broken Hill region in Far West NSW.
David’s practice focuses on carving, with Barkindji culture at the core of its meaning. He works with Australian hardwood, emu eggs, turtle shell and other materials local to his Homelands. In 2021 David won the Outback Archies 3D art prize for his sculpture ‘Birthing Tree’ made of River Red Gum and an emu eggshell. He has selected for the Cementa First Draft Regional Residencies. In 2021 he published a book of poems documenting the Barka river over 2019.
David's partner collection is the Broken Hill City Art Gallery.
GLAMfest is proudly supported by the Australian Government's Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund. GLAMfest is presented with the Broken Hill Heritage Festival.
