The Broken Hill Potters Society

The Broken Hill Potters Society is a volunteer run group which has recently started meeting again in a very cute ex-scout hall in Whyman Street Broken Hill. It is a very pleasant and light space which had a number of potters working away quietly today when West Darling Arts visited. The group have firings on the premises using electric, gas and raku kilns. They also gather for primitive firings off-site using cowpats, pit, salt to generate the heat. The group has been going for over 40 years and has a core group of about 30 members. As well as exhibitions, craft-fairs and workshops, the group had initiated a great project (pre-covid), where they took clay into a local nursing home for residents to have fun making art with. If you are interested in finding out more about the group please message them on Facebook Broken Hill Potters Society https://www.facebook.com/BHpotterssociety Thank you to Sandy and the group, for chatting to West Darling Arts today.
