Welcome Aboriginal Arts Officer Anthony Hayward
We’re thrilled to welcome our brand-new Aboriginal Arts Officer Anthony Hayward to the team!
Anthony is a Ngiyampaa man, raised in Broken Hill NSW, Wilyakali county. He is a well-established local artist, known for carving traditional Aboriginal artefacts like boomerangs, claps sticks and nulla-nulla’s, painting and design, as well as sculptural pieces about his home Country.
His work has been exhibited at the Broken Hill City Art Gallery, Slag Heap Projects, the Broken Hill Art Exchange, and he has been part of collaborative projects presented at the Art Gallery of NSW.
Anthony has recently returned to the area from Cairns where he was working in the mental health and community development sector.
He said he’s excited get out into the region and connect with artists in a community he loves, the far west.
“I love the uniqueness of it, we have some amazing artists here that work across whole different mediums; from music, to stone, to paintings; we’ve got it out here, we’ve got the talent."
