West Darling Arts welcomes three new Board members

West Darling Arts held it's AGM last week and would like to extend a very warm welcome to three new members to the Board: Barbara Quayle, Annette Herd and Deb Hunt. We are thrilled with the addition of these women to strengthen and support the arts and cultural sector in our region and beyond.
Barb Quayle is a Barkindji artist living in Menindee who is a jeweller and also works as a Baaka River Ranger. She has exhibited in Broken Hill and regionally in Wagga Wagga NSW. Barb participated in the Artstate Wagga 2020 Regional Arts NSW Conference with Barkindji artists, Cindi Bates and Cheryl Blore, speaking on a panel about the impact of the mass fish kills and water issues for communities living along the Baaka/Darling River. Barb is passionate about the environment and arts and culture.
Annette Herd is a writer, poet and actor living in Broken Hill. She is passionate about the local film industry. Annette recently won First Prize at the Perfect Light Film Festival as writer and co-producer (with local filmmaker Jason King), of a short film called Small Change.
Deb Hunt has worked in public relations and as a journalist and copywriter for many years in the UK and in Australia, including stints with Australian House and Garden magazine, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the Commonwealth Bank. She has published articles on travel, photography, gardening, renovating, interior design, and health and beauty, Deb is also the author of three books of non-fiction. Deb has won several awards for writing, including the Short Story Award in Broken Hill’s Under the Silver Tree Writing Competition.
