Broken Hill, NSW
Ann Evers lives on the edge of Broken Hill in an old stone house surrounded by a much loved native and cottage garden. She brings to her work a long time interest in the natural and manmade environment of the West Darling region. Ann uses local native plants as well as introduced plants … the palms, pepper trees and cedar trees that are in most old gardens of Broken Hill. Bones, rust and broken china among other found objects add stories to her baskets and vessels that delve into the history and prehistory of this region. Ann’s baskets make use of her own handmade paper and string as well as homespun wool and home cooked dyes.
Ann has exhibited her work at the Broken Hill Regional Gallery, the Bankstown Cultural Centre and the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Her work has also been selected for the Outback Art Prize exhibition.
