Sturts Steps News
In exciting news, construction has begun on the first of three artworks that will form Sturt's Steps Sculpture Trail, a West Darling Arts' project.
The sculpture is located at historic Milparinka. It will acknowledge the hardships and joys in the lives of women who had once lived in the town. Broken Hill local artist, Gritta Walker, says the concept for her cast metal and rammed earth sculpture was inspired by the collection of letters and correspondence held by the Milparinka Heritage & Tourism Assn's collections.
Sturt's Steps Sculpture Trail will feature two further sculptures, to be located at Packsaddle Roadhouse and Tibooburra. The project is generously funded through Restart NSW and Infrastructure NSW with the support of the NSW Government. Watch this space for developments!
The Sturt's Steps project is owned by Milparinka Heritage & Tourism Association and managed by Visitor Economy Development and Public Works Advisory NSW.
